Multi-disciplinary artist
Dean Mermell
presents his first photographic exhibit of moonlit desert landscapes

“For a few nights of each month, the full moon in the Mojave desert is bright enough to read a newspaper by. The moon licks the desert with its silvery tongue and the rocks seem to come alive, the plants move and dance in the shadows. On such nights I can be found (or lost) tramping through the desert, the gravel crunching underfoot, a tripod on my shoulder and a bag of heavy lenses on my back. These images were taken with a medium format camera using only moonlight in long exposures. They are printed large so that you can more easily enter the mysterious desert world where they were captured.”
